A little History Lesson on Cavendish

Starting in the 1970s, Cavendish began life at the old Cowling Mill in Chorley Lancashire.

Cowling Mill, Chorley.

Established by John Henscher, with only a handful of skilled craftsmen and artisans, he started the legacy we have today, designing and producing beautiful sofas for the UK.

1987 was an exciting year for us as we became a part of the Airsprung family, the senior furniture group in the UK with over 140 years trading to its name.

Fast forward to today and the company has grown to its current size, with some of the leading British retailers as customers. We pride ourselves on being a part of British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) and are honoured to be a member of FIRA, the leading British furniture industry research and testing facility, which ensures that all of our furniture meets and often exceeds the UK’s stringent fire safety regulations.

The future is bright for Cavendish Upholstery with our design and development teams working constantly to provide the very best in comfort and style for your home.

So now you know a little more about us on Local and Community History Month. We look forward to continuing as a business to grow and provide the best quality sofas for you and your home.
